Great Day

Our house has been full of sickness.  Week 1 = strep.  Week 2 = stomach bug.  Week 3 = pneumonia.  The boys and I have been practically tied to the house, all during a very busy travel season for my hub.  Yesterday we got the clear from the pediatrician that we can face the world again | no one is contagious.  It was a GREAT feeling to celebrate this news outside. With all three of my healthy guys.

I brought the cameras with me (video clips from the D90).  The footage is not perfect, nor is my musical timing.  But it is documented.  Our break-free-from-sickness fun is on the books and I like that.  There is such a joy to me in preserving these moments with my guys.  God did not wire me with an impeccable memory.  Far from it, actually, and I have spilled many tears over the details that I just can’t recall.  Thankfully, the Lord did pair me with a dear, amazing friend who challenged me when I only saw the downside.  I was so focused on my evaporated memories that  I needed her to help me see that there are blessings in my ability to really, truly live in the moment, to soak up daily joys, and to be present emotionally. Blessings and joy in today.

Here’s a little video of some of our “today”.  These are my three peanuts, my loves.  I loved living in the moment with them and am so thankful to have our fun saved for me to remember at any time.

Thank you for sharing.

I too have memory issues. It makes me so sad when I talk with friends or family about the past and for some reason I can’t recall the memory. It’s pretty scary for me actually.
But I’m grateful for my pictures and journals.

In the end, what good is our memory if we can share the mental pictures that we’ve taken of our life.

We MUST capture it in pictures and write it down in stories, to share with our children, and their children.February 3, 2011 – 11:56 am
