Anne, Brent, Hayes & Thomas

This was a photo session I will never forget.  It wasn’t because they were all adorable, though they were.  And it wasn’t because they were so loving with each other, though they were.  It was because I bore witness to love, compassion, and selflessness, rooted deep inside Anne and Brent.  Specifically, at the end of our session, we heard an incredible screech of car wheels and then a loud crash.  The road above us was busy with traffic and the park was full of people — but that didn’t stop Anne and Brent.  Anne yelled, “get your phone, Brent!” and she immediately dialed 911 while they RAN across the park, up the stairs, and to the street.  Amidst all of the people on the street (already with the car that crashed) and in the park (situated closer to the exits than they were), Anne and Brent were the first responders.  While we waited, Hayes, Thomas and I snuggled up on the sidewalk, unsure of the severity of the situation, and we prayed for those involved in the accident and those coming to rescue.  Then we investigated everything that we could find in my camera bag and Anne’s purse.  :)  I get a lump in my throat just thinking back to that day and how amazing Anne and Brent were and what phenomenal role models they are for Hayes and Thomas – in a world where many are unsure and decide to let someone else take the lead, Anne and Brent instinctively RAN.  They are amazing.  They are the epitome of love.
